Chief Investment Officer
Tom Richmond is the Chief Investment Officer, and he oversees the firm’s portfolio management and research functions. Tom is the Chairman of the firm’s Investment Committee, and is a member of the Executive, Credit, and Portfolio Management Committees.
Prior to joining WS, Tom was a Principal of GLC Capital Management LLC (GLC) in 2001 when WS decided to invest in GLC. In January 2008, the two firms merged. Prior to GLC, Tom served as Senior Vice President and Manager of mortgage-backed securities trading for McDonald & Company Securities, Inc. He also was the co-head of Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) investment banking, as well as several other ancillary capacities within the firm’s Structured Finance group.
Preceding his tenure with McDonald & Company Securities., Tom was the head of PaineWebber’s Collateralized Mortgage Obligation (CMO) arbitrage group, where he was responsible for many aspects of the firm’s agency and proprietary CMO issuance businesses. Tom also served as head of CMO structuring at Salomon Brothers, Inc., now Citigroup Global Markets Holdings Inc. after advancing from the firm’s financial institutions/quantitative support group.
Tom earned his BS in Computer Science and his MS in Applied Mathematics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where he also minored in Economics and Management.
A self-described “bond geek” who is always willing to share what he knows, Tom’s personal time centers around family, sports and cooking. Tom is the proud dad of two sons and two step-children. He has a strong interest in most sports, is an avid golfer, especially loves baseball, and has also received a number of bowling titles.
