Martin Wasmer is a Senior Vice President supporting the Wasmer Schroeder Strategies at Charles Schwab Investment Management, Inc. (CSIM).

Mr. Wasmer founded Wasmer Schroeder (WS) in 1987 to provide investment advisory and portfolio management services for fixed income securities. Prior to acquisition by CSIM in July 2020, he was responsible for the overall management of the firm, business development, and client relationships.

Mr. Wasmer began his career in 1980 as a project coordinator for a Canadian-based commercial real estate developer, where he was involved with all phases of development, from land acquisition through the sale and/or leasing of projects. In 1983, Mr. Wasmer joined Miller & Schroeder Municipals in their Naples, Florida office. There, he specialized in the sales and trading of municipal bonds to institutions and high net worth individuals. Mr. Wasmer then joined Paine Webber in Naples and continued to focus on fixed income products.

Mr. Wasmer earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance from the University of Miami.

Community service has always been a priority for Mr. Wasmer, and over the past 40 years, he has held leadership roles in a wide range of organizations that support the community. He is an active and founding member of the Angel Fund at the Community Foundation of Collier County, a group that provides funding for startup non-profits and programs in Collier County. He is a trustee of The Marieb Charitable Foundation, whose long-term goal is to support education. Mr. Wasmer is also an advisory board committee member of Seacrest Country Day School, as well as a board member of FineMark National Bank & Trust. Past community partnerships include the Alzheimer’s Support Network (board member), Conservancy of Southwest Florida (treasurer & board member), and Southwestern State College Foundation’s Investment Committee (member).

Mr. Wasmer’s community involvement has not gone unnoticed. Recognized for being an outstanding entrepreneur and a role model for youth, he was honored with induction into the Junior Achievement Hall of Fame for Southwest Florida. The award acknowledges his professional accomplishments while maintaining a commitment to the community. “Giving back”, a tenet of Wasmer Schroeder’s corporate culture, earned the firm the Corporate Philanthropy Award from the Community Foundation of Collier County.

Now a longtime resident of Naples, Mr. Wasmer is originally from Cleveland, where his family owned a fastener manufacturing business for more than a century. His personal time is dedicated to spending time with his family and participating in water sports. Mr. Wasmer enjoys most leisure activities related to water, however, he is a particularly avid fan of sailing, swimming, and paddling.
